St. Demetrios Christmas List on Amazon

Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ,
As part of our 100th Anniversary Celebration, we are organizing a Christmas gift container to be filled by us for children in the Archdiocese of His Beatitude Archbishop Anastasios in Albania. This effort is being chaired by our own past parish council president Ted Kaidas and parish council member Anthony (Atef) Azous. Committee members include Stella Wacker and Marina Corodemus. We are filling a shipping container of items for:

1. The Orthodox Shen Vash House of Hope Orphanage in St. Vlash, Durres
and Protagonist school in Tirana, Albania
2. Fr. Spiro’s Special Needs Kids in Durres, Albania
3. Greek childrens school in Korcha, Albania

These items are small costing less than $20. We are also accepting blankets, pillows and contributions of $20 per child for shoes. Let’s start now so we can ship the last week in October. Please go to Amazon to make a purchase and have all items shipped to:
St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church
41-47 Wisteria Street
Perth Amboy, NJ  08861
or make a check for $20 to St. Demetrios designated for “Pair of shoes”.

Let our blessings of 100 years be multiplied by giving to those less fortunate in honor of St. Demetrios. Thank you.

“Tokens of Honor for our King”

Our Sunday School students prepared “Tokens of Honor for our King”. This is a tradition in our culture which will be practiced by our Orthodox children and their families  as a life-long custom to “Honor our King” on Palm Sunday.  Our children were excited and eager to learn the procedures of making Palm Crosses by the older children teaching the younger ones in addition to the guidance of our dedicated Sunday School teachers. After being blessed during our Palm Sunday Divine Liturgy, Father George will present each child with his/her personalized Palm Cross to be taken home as a daily remembrance of Our Savior, Jesus Christ.
